Need help? Let Jesus show you the way!
I am reminded of a story I once heard about a cruise ship out to sea that was met with a deadly storm. The storm violently tossed and turned the cruise ship, knocking it off course. The ship’s passengers were in tremendous fear praying for help and asking where is God? It seemed as if their prayers were not being heard by God and this storm would cause their final demise. The ship’s captain in his calmness glanced down and noticed the navigational instruments were broken and determined the ship had drifted off course and was heading more into the heart of the storm.
Familiar with the route because he had taken the journey many times before, the captain was searching for a landmark he recognized. Off in the distance was a little building he passed many times. This little building was still standing which had weathered these storms many times. The captain course corrected the ship toward the little building to safety.
The closer the ship came to the building one could see a symbol of the cross on top of the building. When they saw the cross, they begin to get excited and have hope. The cross represented God had heard their prayers.
Once the ship reached its destination, a group of passengers were celebrating and thanking God for delivering them out of the storm. One passenger stated, “I am glad we had an experienced captain traveling with us.”
Jesus left the disciples a landmark to safety. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.”
Have you ever asked the question where is God? In the last two years, have you experienced some sort of grief and pain from the loss of a loved one, suffered some sort of depression, or even received a heart crushing report from the medical doctors about a severe medical condition or some other sad situation?
These last two years have been very difficult, and some are ready to see these days in the rearview mirror as we drive off. This life can be very hard at times and cause the toughest of persons to lose heart and feel helpless to the point of doubting one’s faith and questioning where is God in your life.
Just like the passengers in our story, do not worry. You are not alone. Even the disciples who walked with Jesus found themselves feeling the same way at one point, and Jesus encouraged them to not let their hearts be troubled. (John 14:1)
The next time you feel like your heart is troubled, will you look to the little building with the cross? Will you pray and ask Jesus to show you the way? Author – Tony Majors
Why don’t you pray while you are thinking about it if you want Jesus to show you the way? Say the following prayer;
Dear Jesus, I am a sinner in need of your help, and your mercy and your forgiveness. I invite you to come into my life and become my personal Lord and Savior! Jesus, I am troubled, I am perplexed, I have been ambushed, my focus keeps being highjacked. I am troubled, tired, fed up and confused! Jesus, I am in need! Jesus, because of your loving kindness, your mercy and your goodness, would you please show me the way Jesus? Show me how to get my life fixed! Help me Jesus, and I will be helped, save me Jesus and I will be saved. Fix me Jesus and I will be fixed. Help me to become all that God has created me to be, it is in your name, I ask and pray! Amen! Author – WIN International Ministries Team!
