Don’t let “despair” get the victory! Jesus can help!

Have you felt the weight lately? That heavy, suffocating feeling when you look at the news, check your bank account, or face a health struggle? It’s easy to call that “being realistic.” But what if it’s tactical? Despair isn’t just a mood; it’s a strategy meant to keep you chained. In Tolkien’s world, when despair tries to keep you stuck, discouraged, chained down, broke, sick, stuck or hopeless, hope is a moral discipline: a decision you must learn how to practice when everything is going wrong. It’s a small light you will need to carry into the places that swears it will swallow you whole and all those you love, know or hold dear.

Hope doesn’t erase the cave, but it sets the tone and the atmosphere for Jesus to show up, and it also reminds you the darkness is real: but it cannot prevail when Jesus shows up!

This is where Jesus breaks chains.

Despair says, “You’re finished.” Jesus says, “I am the Resurrection and the Life.”

Despair says, “You’re stuck.” Jesus says, “I am making all things new.”

Despair says, “There’s no way you will get through this”. Jesus says, “Come out of that grave”, rise up, take my hand, I will lead you out!

When you choose hope, you engage in spiritual warfare.

You tell the darkness you serve a Savior who turns graves into gardens.

Jesus enters your struggle the moment you decide to keep praying and showing up. When and if you pray, Jesus will provide the breakthroughs “Options” you couldn’t see yesterday.

Take heart.

Hope is a decision.

Prayer is your lifeline.

Don’t let despair win the day.

Choose the star.

Choose the hope.

Choose to keep moving.

Choose Jesus.

Choose to pray, trust and believe!

Jesus always “makes a way”!

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” : John 1:5

Despair is a weapon, but hope is our tactical choice. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the news or personal stress, remember that hope isn’t just a mood: it’s a decision to keep moving because you know who holds the future. Let’s invite Jesus into the very places where you feel stuck or discouraged. He is the Provider of strength when yours is gone.

Try this simple prayer today: “Lord Jesus, I invite You into my mess and my stress. I choose to look for the light You’ve provided, even when the night feels long. You are my Provider and my Guide. Help me take the next step in faith and flip the script on despair. Amen.”

Jesus is your Provider: not just for your needs, but for the hope you need to keep going.

Take a deep breath. He’s got you.
