Do you ever feel as though God is asleep, as though He is not paying attention? It can be disheartening when someone falls asleep when you need them. Some people can sleep through anything.

People fall asleep, but God never does.

“Behold, He who keeps Israel. Shall neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121:4)

God never sleeps. He is always watching over us, He is always on duty, He is always paying attention to us.

The Bible talks about a storm that came into the lives of the disciples. It was so bad that they were worried for their lives. In fact, the disciples had been following Jesus so much that they followed Him directly into a storm.

Sometimes hardships come into our lives and we may think it is because we are doing something wrong.

But look at these disciples; they were in the will of God. The storm still came even when they obeyed the Lord, not because they disobeyed Him. So sometimes those hardships come even when we are obedient, not because we are disobedient.

You might be thinking, well the disciples did not know what they were doing. These disciples were seasoned sailors. They were guys who knew how to navigate rough seas. They knew how to use their equipment. Yet they were panicking.

So what was Jesus doing? Amazingly, He was sound asleep in the lower part of the boat.

In a technical sense, Jesus, the man, was tired from a hard day of work and was sleeping. Jesus was asleep because He rested confidently know that God was in control and that is what the disciples should have done too.

They should have realized they were fine because they put their trust in God and not in their circumstances.

“Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” (Matthew 8:25)

We need to cry out to Jesus in the midst of our storms and say, “Lord, save us!” Jesus save us! Lord Help me! Jesus Help me! Next time you are in a storm talk to God about it. Talk to Jesus about it! Call out to God, call out to Jesus, let them help you.

Are you in the middle of a storm today? God is only one prayer away!

“Heavenly Father, I am so thankful You never sleep nor slumber. In times when concerns tries to overwhelm me, I will recall with the help of the Holy Spirit, the promises You have made to me in Your Word. Those promises, which cover every circumstance I will ever face, are there from You Who watches over me continually. You are always watching, never asleep! Thank You for this as I meditate just what that means to me. In Jesus’ name I ask and pray, Amen.”

Remember to read the word of God daily so that the storms going on around you won’t get on the inside of you with God’s help!
