You’re Not Alone..You Have Been Given A Helper!

Your walk with God here on earth does not need to be a walk in the desert. If you are saved, living water has been installed in you and that is why you do not have to thirst anymore. When you experience that life with God becomes hard, you can receive new strength from the source of the living water inside of you. We often think that we have to struggle as Christians here on earth, but the situation is actually the opposite.

Matthew 11:28 remind you that if you are tired, or burdened, to “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”.

It does not mean that being a Christian is to live on a pink cloud, but we have received a helper who guides us through hard things and gives us new power. When Jesus uses the words “streams of living water” to describe the Holy Spirit to us, He wants to describe the effect the Holy Spirit has on our life. He refreshes and gives us new power.

A new dimension of worshiping God Through the whole Bible, until we come to the Acts, we see the prophecy about the time when God is going to come close to us in a special way. There was going to come a time when the Spirit of God would not just rest on people, but God would let His Spirit dwell in them.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Think how fantastic it is! Almighty God, the creator of the whole universe, wants His own Spirit to dwell in you! You have no choice but to become completely transformed when you realize that.

We know that this dimension became reality in the second chapter of the Acts when the apostles and those who were gathered with them became baptized in the Holy Spirit and started speaking in tongues. We know that because Peter himself refers to the prophecies in the Old Testament and says that the possibility of Spirit baptism is the fulfillment of the prophecies (Acts 2:15).

Getting baptized with the Holy Spirit is more than to begin speaking in tongues. It means getting completely surrounded by and filled with the Holy Spirit. Many people are able to classify Jesus and God well, but when you talk about the Holy Spirit, they become uncertain. They consider the Holy Spirit to be some kind of feeling, power or energy that you cannot define precisely. This is not so according to Jesus because He was talking about the Holy Spirit as a person – a helper that He was going to send. Yes, Jesus actually says that it is better for us that He goes to the Father so that the Holy Spirit can come.

John 16:7  states, But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

What enabled Jesus to do what He did when He was on earth was the Holy Spirit. That is why it was an advantage for us that Jesus went away so that the Holy Spirit could come over each one of us – because then everyone is able to do what Jesus did.

John 14:12 states, I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

The Holy Spirit was supposed to give us power and teach us everything we need to learn. He is not just “good to have”, He is a “must” if you want to do what Jesus has asked you to do.

John 16:13 states,  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Acts 1:8 states, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

The Holy Spirit is actually so important that Jesus asked His disciples to wait before they began fulfilling the mission command until they received the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49 + Acts 1:4)

The Holy Spirit enables us to do some of the deeds Jesus did and it is also Him who enables us to live in victory over sin. From the human perspective it is impossible to live in victory over sin without the help of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

The Holy Spirit is an important part of your life Why did Jesus call the Holy Spirit a spokesman? It was of course because He speaks. He communicates what God wants to tell you. If you want to receive something from God, you need to learn to listen to the Holy Spirit. He is not the mediator between us and God because Jesus is one (1 Tim 2:5), but He is a spokesman who communicates what God wants to say to us.

That is why we need to develop our relationship with Him. He is not some kind of vague energy, but a person who can be both hurt and glad. He has much to say but He is not going to be an intruder.

It is important that you renew your mind so that you can catch the signals the Holy Spirit is sending you. Since the Holy Spirit lives in you, all the knowledge is available to you, but you cannot use more than what you can comprehend with your mind.

Romans 12:2 states, Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 John 2:27 states, As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit-just as it has taught you, remain in him.

The Holy Spirit is not the one who takes initiative, but a helper. He is not going to do everything for you or intrude, but when you take the initiative, He will strengthen you.

To sum up, we can say that the Holy Spirit is the one who enables us to do what Jesus asked us to do, to live a life in victory over sin and He is the spokesman God speaks to us through.
