Jesus isn’t finished with your story yet, just because the chapter may not have changed yet!
We’ve all had those moments where we feel like we are staring at a blank wall, waiting for a door to open that seems permanently locked. You’ve done the “right” things. You’ve been waking up early to pray, you’ve been consistent in your giving, and you’ve kept your heart open, expecting a breakthrough that just hasn’t shown up. You look at your life today, and it looks exactly like it did six months ago: maybe even a little harder.
The difficult person at the office is still making your life miserable. The business you poured your savings into is still hovering in the red. That nagging sickness hasn’t left your body, and the loneliness you thought would be gone by now is still sitting at the dinner table with you. It’s exhausting to keep believing when the scenery never changes. We get tired. We get discouraged. Sometimes, we even get a little fed up with the process. We start to wonder, “What is the actual point of trusting Jesus if everything is still exactly the same?”
If that’s where you are today, we want to sit with you in that space for a moment. It’s okay to feel “over it.” But we also want to remind you of a powerful truth: a stagnant chapter does not mean an abandoned story. Jesus isn’t finished with you just because the page hasn’t turned yet.
The Mystery of the “Not Yet” Factor
One of the hardest things to reconcile in our walk with Jesus is the gap between the promise and the payoff. We live in a world of instant downloads and overnight shipping, but God (the Overseer and Director) often writes our lives in “seasons.” We want a microwave miracle, but Jesus is often preparing a slow-cooked masterpiece.
The “not yet” factor isn’t a sign of Jesus’ absence; it’s often a sign of His protection or preparation. When our circumstances don’t change despite our prayers, it’s easy to think Jesus is ignoring us. But the truth is, He is often working in us before He works for us. If He changed the chapter before we were ready for the next one, we might lose the very blessing we’ve been praying for.

3 Stories of Those Who Lived in the “Not Yet”
To understand how Jesus handles these long, unchanging chapters, we can look at people who sat in the waiting room much longer than they ever expected.
1. Joseph: The Thirteen-Year Chapter
Joseph had a dream that he would be a leader, but his reality was a pit, then slavery, and then a cold prison cell. For thirteen years, Joseph’s chapter didn’t seem to change for the better. In fact, every time he did the right thing: like refusing Potiphar’s wife: he seemed to get punished for it. He was praying, working hard, and being faithful, yet he remained a prisoner.
What did Joseph do? He didn’t let the prison define his character. He continued to use his gifts, even while incarcerated. And while Joseph didn’t know Jesus by name yet, we can still see the heart and pattern of Jesus in the way his story was carried: steady, purposeful, and never wasted. When Jesus finally turned the page, it didn’t just change a little: it changed completely. In one single day, Joseph went from a dungeon to the second-highest throne in Egypt. Jesus responded to his years of faithfulness by positioning him to save an entire nation. The “not yet” was actually the training ground for the “now.”
2. The Woman with the Issue of Blood: The Twelve-Year Struggle
Imagine living in the same chapter of sickness and social isolation for twelve years. This woman had spent all her money on doctors, and the Bible says she actually grew worse. She was doing everything she could to get better, but her “chapter” was stuck on a loop of pain and poverty. She was likely discouraged and fed up with the “experts.”
What did she do? She shifted her focus from her failed efforts to the power of Jesus. She decided that one touch of His garment was worth more than twelve years of medical bills. When she finally reached Him, Jesus didn’t just heal her body; He restored her identity, calling her “Daughter.” He responded to her “not yet” by giving her a “forever” miracle that is still talked about thousands of years later.
3. Hannah: The Year-After-Year Heartache
Hannah’s story is one of deep, recurring pain. Every year she went to the temple to pray for a child, and every year she left empty-handed. She was being mocked by her rival, and her husband didn’t quite understand her grief. She was giving, praying, and looking for a change, but her womb remained closed. She was so discouraged she couldn’t even eat.
What did she do? She poured out her soul to God with a raw honesty that looked like drunkenness to the priest. She stayed at the altar until she felt the peace of God. And while Hannah lived generations before Jesus walked the earth, we can still see Jesus’ signature all over moments like this: He draws near to the crushed in spirit, He honors surrendered faith, and He brings fruit out of pain in God’s perfect timing. When Jesus finally changed her chapter, He gave her Samuel: a son who would lead Israel. He didn’t just give her a baby; He gave her a prophet. The delay was because God (the Overseer and Director) was waiting for a specific timing that would impact the entire destiny of His people.

3 Things You Can Do to Endure the Wait
When you are tired of the same old problems, how do you keep going? Here are three practical tactics to help you endure until your answer arrives.
- Change Your Internal Narrative: Instead of saying, “Nothing is happening,” start saying, “Jesus is working behind the scenes.” Our faith is built by the words we speak. If we constantly narrate our lives as “stuck,” we lose the expectancy needed to see the impossible. Remind yourself that the Author isn’t done writing.
- Focus on the “Manna” for Today: When the big miracle hasn’t come, look for the small graces. Maybe the business isn’t thriving yet, but you had enough to pay the bills this month. Maybe the sickness isn’t gone, but you had the strength to get out of bed. These “manna moments” are Jesus’ way of sustaining you in the wilderness.
- Audit Your Expectations: Sometimes we are so focused on what we want fixed our way that we miss how Jesus is trying to fix it His way (under the wise direction of God, our Overseer). Be open to the idea that Jesus might not change the person, but He might change your heart toward them. He might not give you that specific job, but He might be opening a door for a whole new career path. Trust His expertise over your own.
The Final Word: Don’t Close the Book
We want you to know that your current struggle is not your final destination. Jesus is the central figure in your story: the Author and Finisher of your faith, the One who steps into impossible scenes and changes outcomes. If it’s not good yet, then He’s not finished yet. He is above every hostile circumstance and every unfair situation you are facing. He specializes in reversing bad decisions and breathing life into dead dreams, all while carrying out the wise direction of God, the Overseer of it all. Trust Jesus to do what is best, in the timing that is best.

Let’s Pray Together
We invite you to join us in a moment of connection with Jesus. Whatever you are facing, bring it to Him now.
“Jesus, we come to You today with hearts that are sometimes tired and souls that feel a bit heavy. You know the chapters of our lives that feel stuck. You see the prayers we’ve prayed that seem to have gone unanswered. We invite You into our ‘not yet’ moments. Step into the scenes that haven’t changed. Touch what needs healing. Strengthen what feels weak. Open doors no person can open, and close doors that would harm us. We ask for the strength to endure, the faith to keep expecting, and the peace that passes all understanding while we wait for the page to turn.
And Father God, as the Overseer and Director of our lives, we ask You to order our steps and align our timing with Heaven, so we don’t rush ahead of what You’ve written.
Jesus, we also lift up WIN International Ministries to You. Thank You for the way this ministry continues to pour out hope and light to the world. We ask for Your supernatural protection over them as they navigate digital attacks, online obstacles, and the reality of spiritual warfare. Strengthen their hands, clear their paths, and let their message reach the hearts that need it most. We declare that no weapon formed against this ministry or against our own lives shall prosper. We trust Your timing, we trust Your heart, and we believe that our best chapters are still ahead of us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Keep your head up! You are stronger than you think, and Jesus is closer than you feel. If you’re feeling encouraged, we’d love to stay connected with you.
