Let Jesus Give You a Fresh Start When What You Had Wanted Fails!
*“But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”* – Matthew 19:26
Have you ever felt like you’ve failed, or that something you hoped for and worked towards didn’t turn out the way you expected? Maybe a dream crumbled, or a relationship fell apart. You poured your heart into something, and now it feels like you’re standing in the rubble of your own disappointment. But I want you to know this today: failure does not define you. **Jesus has the power to give you a fresh start.**
There are many stories in the Bible of people who experienced massive failures—people who thought their lives were over because of mistakes, betrayal, or loss. Yet Jesus came to them with a heart full of grace and gave them a new beginning.

Let’s look at Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples. Peter was bold, passionate, and fearless… until the night of Jesus’ arrest. In a moment of fear and weakness, Peter denied Jesus three times, swearing that he didn’t even know Him. Imagine the weight of that failure. Peter felt like he had lost everything—he was ashamed and heartbroken. But what did Jesus do? He didn’t condemn Peter. Instead, after His resurrection, Jesus met Peter on the shore, cooked him breakfast, and asked him three times, “Do you love me?” (John 21:15-19). With those words, Jesus gave Peter a fresh start. Peter, who had failed miserably, was restored and called to lead the early Church.
Then there’s the story of the woman caught in adultery. The religious leaders brought her to Jesus, ready to condemn her with stones, but Jesus bent down and wrote something in the sand. When they pressed Him for an answer, He said, *“Let him who is without sin cast the first stone”* (John 8:7). One by one, the accusers left. And Jesus, with compassion in His eyes, said to her, *“Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on sin no more.”* (John 8:11). She had failed in the eyes of everyone around her, but Jesus didn’t define her by her mistakes. He offered her a fresh start, a chance for a new life.

Maybe you’re facing something like this right now—feeling like your mistakes are too big, your failures too painful, your hope too small. Maybe you’ve been let down by a situation, or you’ve felt that your plans have failed. **Jesus wants to give you a fresh start.**

Do you want to move forward? Do you want to leave the shame, guilt, and fear behind, and allow Jesus to restore your heart and your hope? If you do, let’s pray:
*Jesus, I come before You today with a heart full of hurt, disappointment, and failure. I feel like what I wanted, what I worked for, has slipped through my fingers. I feel stuck, and it seems like I can’t move forward. But I believe You are a God who makes all things new. You are a God who takes brokenness and turns it into beauty. I ask You to step into my life right now, into my pain, and into my failures. Give me the courage to let go of what has gone wrong, and help me trust that You have something new for me. Restore my heart, and lead me into a fresh start with You. I don’t want to carry this burden anymore. I want to follow Your path for my life, even if I don’t know where it will lead. Thank You for Your grace, for Your love, and for never giving up on me. In Your name, Amen.*

Because you prayed that prayer, here’s how Jesus might Respond:
1. **He will show you His forgiveness.** Like the woman caught in adultery, Jesus will remind you that your sins are forgiven. You don’t need to carry the weight of guilt. He has already paid the price for your mistakes. You can walk away from the past without fear of condemnation.
2. **He will guide you into new paths.** Maybe you’ve tried things your way and failed. But Jesus, like He did with Peter, will help you find your true calling. He’s not done with you yet. He will take your mess and turn it into something beautiful.
3. **He will give you peace in the waiting.** Failure doesn’t always mean a quick fix. Sometimes, Jesus will lead you into a season of patience, but it’s in this space that you learn to trust Him more deeply. He will give you peace, knowing that He is working even when you can’t see it.
4. **He will surround you with support.** Jesus may place people in your life who will encourage you, help you see things from a different perspective, and walk with you as you start anew. You don’t have to do it alone.
5. **He will restore your hope.** Jesus wants to replace your disappointment with hope. When you’re ready to surrender your plans, He can reveal His better plans for you. Trust that what He has in store is far greater than anything you could have imagined.

No matter where you are, no matter how far you feel from the life you envisioned, Jesus is there, ready to meet you with open arms. Just as He took Peter, the woman caught in adultery, and so many others who thought they were beyond hope, He can take you—your story, your dreams, your mistakes—and create something new.
You are not defined by your failures. You are defined by God’s love for you.** And His love never fails.
Take a moment today to reflect on where you need a fresh start. Ask Jesus to step into that space. Allow Him to heal you, restore you, and lead you forward. No failure is too great for His grace.
Jesus makes all things new.

May you walk in the freedom and hope He offers you today.
